Frequently Asked Questions

1. Online. Once Digital Cookie opens (see important dates), you can start selling cookies through your personal online sales portal. You’ll get an email with instructions to sign in to Digital Cookie.

2. In-person at a cookie booth. Sign up for a time slot and help out at a booth! You’ll get credit for cookie sales for every hour you work a booth.

3. Walkabout, aka in-person. This refers to in-person sales to anyone, including door-to-door cookie sales or workplace sales.

For families, the initial order refers to the cookies you’ve sold prior to the Initial Order due date that you need to deliver, aka “girl delivered” cookies.

You might have sold them at a parent workplace, or in person by going door-to-door, or to your Grandma or your friend.

Regardless of how you sold them, your initial order should include everything you sold UP TO THAT POINT that needs to be girl-delivered. You don’t need to include anything from Digital Cookie in your Initial Order; I’ll include those for you.

1. Any cookies you’ve sold up to that point IN-PERSON (aka “on paper”) that are for Girl Delivery.

2. Any cookies you decide to order to have on hand when doing door-to-door or in-person sales. This is purely optional.**

**Remember, you’re financially responsible for any cookies you order. They can’t be returned to the troop or to the council. We might be able to swap them for other varieties, but no guarantees. For this reason, many families don’t order anything extra, and instead request cookies only as they sell them, through their weekly orders.

When you pick up your initial order, the Cookie Mom can tell you your balance due.

If you’re able, it’s easiest to pay your outstanding balance when you pickup cookies.

Otherwise, collect payment from your in-person/girl delivery cookie buyers and turn in money to Lydia (Cookie Mom) at your next weekly pickup, or give it to Sara D. or Nikki F. and they’ll get it to the Cookie Mom.

Any cash or checks handed over should be in an envelope clearly labeled with your girl’s name, with the amount written on the outside.

When sales end, if you have an outstanding balance due, Cookie Mom will let you know.

You can pay in cash, check, or Venmo.

If you’re paying in cash or check: Money should be in an envelope clearly labeled with your girl’s name, with the amount written on the outside.

You’ll get an email from Girl Scouts on January 10 with your Digital Cookie access instructions.

Once you’re in, you can login here.

You can also download the Digital Cookie app for your phone to accept credit card payments for your in-person sales!

Option 1: Cash or Check. Collect cash or check for cookies when you deliver them. Checks can be made out to the PARENT or Troop 2319 or 3129. If you’re asked, cookie purchases are not tax-deductible.

Option 2: Credit Card. You can download the Digital Cookie app for your smartphone and accept credit card payments for in-person sales!

Option 3: Venmo/Zelle. Parents are welcome to use their own Venmo/Zelle accounts to accept payments for cookies. Remember, you’re responsible for turning in the money to the troop cookie manager, regardless of payment method.

After you pickup your initial order, you’ll continue to sell cookies. Weekly Orders are how you get those cookies so you can deliver them to your customers.

Once a week, fill out a form telling Cookie Mom how many boxes you need of each variety to fill your orders. She’ll contact you when your order is ready to be picked up.

To keep things organized, please submit only one Weekly Order each week. In other words, don’t fill out the form more than once a week. Multiple entries makes ordering tricky and it hurts Lydia’s brain.

Any paper (in person) orders you’ve sold since submitting your last order
AND
Any Digital Cookie Girl Delivery orders since your last order

This is different from the Initial Order.

Saturdays by 6:00 p.m. I’ll get ahold of you when your Weekly Order can be picked up. Usually it’s within a day, but if I need to get more cookies from the cupboard to fill your order, it could take up to 6 days.

Where: Lydia’s home address can be found in the Important Dates section.

When:
For Initial Order: Within one day of delivery, in most cases. You’ll get an email to choose a pickup time.
For Weekly Orders: No later than six days after you submit your weekly order, usually sooner! Cookie Mom will get ahold of you when it’s ready to be picked up.

Need to know what you currently owe for cookies? Reach out to Lydia.

How it all works

Your girl can sell cookies two ways: in person or on her Digital Cookie site.

Digital Cookie…

…is your girl’s personal online sales site. She can set it up and share it with family/friends and sell cookies through the site.

Pros: No money handling, you can sell to people locally that you’re close enough to deliver cookies to. (If the buyer chooses Girl Delivery, you can accept/reject those purchases.) After February 27, you can also sell to people anywhere in the country and have their order shipped directly to them.

Cons: It can be a little confusing to set up, shipping costs are on the high side.

In-Person Sales…

refers to any sales that happen offline: walking door to door in your neighborhood, at a parent’s workplace, etc. Follow guidelines for safety!

What’s this Initial Order stuff?

Your girl will sell cookies for 10 days. At the Initial Order Deadline you’ll report to the troop how many cookies she sold IN PERSON (in other words, on paper).

This is the “initial order.” We combine all girls’ orders into one giant order.

While we wait for cookies to arrive, you can keep selling cookies on your Digital Cookie site and in person, too!

When cookies arrive in mid-February, you’ll pick up your initial order from the Cookie Mom, deliver your cookies to the in-person/girl delivery buyers, and collect payment from them.

We’ll start having booths around this time, too.

Okay, so what’s a weekly order?

Every week (starting when cookies come in), you’ll report to the Cookie Mom any additional cookies your girl sold for Girl Delivery.

That’s a “Weekly Order.”

This is different than the Initial Order, when I only needed to know your in-person/paper sales. Now I’ll need to know in-person/paper and Girl-Delivered Digital Cookie sales, too. 🙂

You’ll use the Weekly Order form to report those sales, once a week.

I’ll pack up your cookies, you’ll come get them, and your girl will deliver. The first weekly order is due Friday, Feb 9.

Every time you pick up, you’ll get a receipt from the Cookie Mom. It’s your responsibility to ensure you received what the receipt says you did. Remember, you’re financially responsible to pay the troop for all cookies you receive.

Any money you collect for cookie sales needs to go to the Cookie Mom as soon as possible. You can also give it to Sara D. or Nikki F.

Any money handed over should be in an envelope clearly labeled with your girl’s name, with the amount written on the outside.

This continues until cookie sales end in late March.

Then Lydia and Nikki have a BIG OL’ COLD DRINK and take a nap.
